LEADERSHIP EVANSVILLE MEMBERSHIP INVITATION

Dear Alumni and Community Friends,

We are inviting you to support this year’s membership drive by resolving to stay involved!  Leadership Evansville has been blessed – we’ve had a good year during tough times.  We have a wonderful board, many projects happening, and YOU to thank!  We’re thankful for you referring people to our classes, volunteering for our many community programs, and giving monetarily.  Your efforts have made Leadership Evansville a truly sustainable service organization in our community.

We aren’t sending a traditional membership appeal letter because of the uncertain economy.  Things seem a little better now from our vantage point, but we don’t know how things are for you.  Where our traditional $50 sustaining membership may be prohibitive for some, it may also be too little to ask of others.  So we are   requesting you give what you can - be it $1 or $1,000,000.  We are more interested in having active, engaged alumni than collecting dues.  We want to define our membership by its level of involvement and service it gives to our community.

Through our Community Leadership Program, we have instructed over 1,600 individuals in leadership training and civic engagement.  Class projects currently in process include:  The Glenwood Project –an intense collaboration among community partners to implement a comprehensive neighborhood improvement plan, and has led leadership training for students at Culver Elementary School; The Green Initiative –conducting community forums to discuss past and present environmental initiatives, and looking for ways to interact with local officials to effect sustainable change; The Mentoring Program - working with the Welborn Baptist Foundation, Indiana Youth Institute and EVSC to develop a resource of volunteers to mentor children throughout our community.

Our annual Celebration of Leadership honors over 90 diverse individuals, projects and organizations for their exemplary service, and was attended by over 600 this year!  It’s been responsible for nominating four recipients of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award, the most esteemed national honor for civic engagement in our country – no other community can match our record.  This is a testament to the value of our community, our ability to be collaborative and inclusive, and the importance of celebrating leadership!

As alumni of LE, we count on you to be a part of building a better community through leadership development.   Stay involved.  Stay engaged.  Please return your 2009-2010 membership form today.  We appreciate your support and look forward to serving with you this year!

Sincerely,

PS – Make sure we have your current e-mail information so we can keep you updated as we unveil our new interactive member website later this program year.  It will help you stay connected and engaged in all our community efforts!
